Works in Progress for the Site

There are 12 to 14 original, larger paintings ready to be photographed.  Then the images will be placed on the Art Reproductions Page for viewing.  The images shown now are sized 8 1/2 X 11 for small posters.  The larger works are sized 16 X 20 and some are grouped.  The subject matters are human relationships in different emotional forms.  The Reproduction sample below is called Singers.

Changing Descriptions of Paintings--DRIFTING

In the upper, right corner sits a large ship in deep waters.  The fish above and to the left are being displaced by our human activities.  The quandary is that the ship serves an important purpose in taking people all over so that they can relate, communicate and understand cultural and global differences/similarities.  Yet, it also violates some environmental issues and the sea life is hurt by many of our deep earth activities.  It is a type of race--my prayer is that the coming together of different peoples will work together to generate ideas and activities to save the wildlife and environment.

Below that lies a small neighborhood or village.  I believe we need our safe places to dwell, think, communicate, grow.  These need to be small enough, even within cities, that groups feel safe problem solving and living healthily to have a spot on the earth without violence.

The central figure, a woman drifting, is suspended in thought.  She is aware and mentally clear, yet her feet touch the water, the wet rocks and the cream shells.  She is sensitive to the emotional needs of others through her resonance to the life which exists at the shore of things.  Her right arm grasps a fully alive tree, imbued with the spirit of her care.  She has a halo of ideas which inspire her and lead her development.  And there is a stream of passion flowing from her heart outward.

Below and to the left are a fern and a tall bird.  They are free and independent.  They are able to watch her and interact and to share in life.  There is fire surrounding the bird.  The feelings between the woman and the natural life is shown by relationship, here.

I call it Drifting because, though the emotional depth and color of life is clear in concern, she is suspended by something new and there, clear in action.
